SHB Overview

South Huntington Beach Girls Fastpitch Softball (SHB) is a non-profit recreational softball league that serves girls ages 5 through 14 residing in Huntington Beach, Fountain Valley, Costa Mesa, Newport Beach and surrounding communities.  We provide a safe, first class recreational softball program to all girls interested in fastpitch softball

Players of all skill levels are welcome in every age division and we welcome players from all the surrounding areas to join our league – you don’t have to live in HB to play. SHB players learn softball fundamentals, leadership and teamwork, all while making lifelong friendships and having a blast!

Our rules are in accordance and direct to the ASA rules, with a few exceptions and changes. Our umpires are ASA certified and trained.

Seasons

South Huntington Beach Girls Fastpitch Softball plays three seasons:

  • Spring Ball begins practicing in January and plays through May, ending within a rousing league tournament and our famous closing day shaving cream fight!  Spring Ball is played at our SHB fields at Edison Community Park in Huntington Beach.
  • All Stars is played in weekend tournaments throughout Southern California in June - July and culminates in District, State and National level tournaments in August.
  • Fall Ball begins practicing in August and plays through the end of November on both our own fields and those of  local leagues, like Santa Ana, Orange and Cypress.  The season closes with a district-wide Thanksgiving Day weekend tournament.

Fun and Fundamentals

At SHB, we take pride in providing an enjoyable and safe atmosphere where girls will have fun while they learn the game of softball.  We are considered a premier training ground for girl’s softball in Orange County and many of our alumni go on to play college softball – click here to check out our All Star Alumni Roster.

We offer encouragement and motivation for every girl at every skill level and teach the highest degree of sportsmanship and citizenship to all our members (including our parents!)
