Great Day At The Players Clinic
On Saturday, February 18, over 100 SHB players attended our Spring Players Clinic led by the varsity softball team from Edison High School. Our girls were split into age groups and assigned Edison Players as coaches. Each age group practiced infield and outfield strategies, hitting, catching and a variety of games and drills. Lunch was provided by Love At First Bite catering and at the end of the day, the Edison team demonstrated their speed and softball skills to a cheering crowd. After coordinating with parents, 10U Coach Joe Uribe and his assistants organized a Sunday morning “kidnapping” of the new team members. A caravan went from house-to-house waking up the girls early Sunday morning and taking them to IHOP – in their PJ’s – to meet each other and get the season going. To see photo larger, Click Here SHB 14U1 team AFLAC played at the West Grove Halloween Spooktacular, taking 2nd place in the one-day tournament. The girls were on fire from the first pitch against Fountain Valley in the first game winning 6-0, followed up in the second game against Cerritos, again winning 6-0. After a one game break, the bat’s and pitching came alive again with a 15-2 win over Cypress! The Championship Game was exciting, with AFLAC eventually falling to Buena Park. This ball was well hit in the gap between 2nd and short and Sammi was able to run it down and catch it back handed for the out. It was a great game by both teams with Orange Canyon taking the win.
