2012 Spring Ball Registration Is – Closed
Welcome to the South Huntington Beach Girls Fastpitch Softball (SHB) information page for the 2012 Spring Season. SHB is a recreational softball league that serves girls residing in Huntington Beach, Fountain Valley, Costa Mesa and surrounding communities.
Our Spring Season is for ages 5 – 14 (age as of Dec. 31, 2011). SHB Spring Registration is open from November 1st through December 31st and there are three easy ways to register – click on the registration tab to learn more.
Fields
Spring Ball games are played at our SHB fields, located at Edison Community Park at 21377 Magnolia Street in Huntington Beach.
Age Brackets
Age brackets for the Spring 2012 season based on the player’s age as of December 31, 2011 and are as follows:
Division 14U – players born in the years 1997 – 1998
Division 12U - players born in the years 1999 – 2000
Division 10U – players born in the years 2001 – 2002
Division 8U – players born in the years 2003 – 2004
Division 6U – players born in the years 2005 – 2006
Girls born in 2007 or earlier are not yet eligible.
Fees
SHB is a non-profit league run by volunteers. Fees cover all games, practices, team and individual photos, participation trophies, paid umpires, and insurance for the season. The base cost to sign up is $95 for age 6U, $155 for Ages 8U, 10U and 12U, and $175 for 14U.
In addition, a Snack Bar deposit of $40 is required per player, and is payable along with the registration fee. Parents earn this $40 fee back by working one 2-3 hour shift imanning the snack bar during the season.
We offer an optional all-day Players Clinic before the season starts for a nominal fee.
Requirements
A Birth Certificate must be presented at time of registration for age verification if your child has not previously participated at SHB.
Volunteers
We are an all volunteer league and each family must have at least one member volunteer in some capacity. The following positions are available on each team and can be selected on your application form:

- Head Coach
- Asst Coach
- Team Parent
- Scorekeeper
- Team Banner
- Field Maintenance
If you would like to volunteer to serve as a head coach in the Spring and are not a returning coach, please also complete and return the SHBGFS Coaches Application (LINK) with your player registration form.
IMPORTANT DATES
- Player evaluations: Saturday, January 14 for ages 8U to 14U, with make-ups on Monday, January 16th. 6U girls do not need to evaluate.
- Team Practices: Begin the week of January 30th
- SHB Players Clinic: January 21 for all new and returning players (optional)
- Opening Day: February 25
- Regular Games: Begin on March 3
