8U Spring Championship Game 2024
Welcome to the South Huntington Beach Girls Fastpitch Softball (SHBGFS) information page for the Spring Season. SHBGS is a recreational softball league that serves girls residing in Huntington Beach, Fountain Valley, Costa Mesa and surrounding communities.
Our Spring Season is for girls aged 5 to 14 and registration is open from November 1 through early January. There are two easy ways to register – click on the Spring Ball registration link below to learn more.
Division brackets for the Spring season are based on the player’s birthdate and are as follows:
6U: 9/1/2017 to 2/29/2020
8U: 9/1/2015 to 8/31/2017
10U: 9/1/2013 to 8/31/2015
12U: 9/1/2011 to 8/31/2013
14U: 9/1/2009 to 8/31/2011
NOTE - If a player wishes to play UP a division, this must be indicated at time of registration,
and the player will be evaluated accordingly at the Skills Assessment Day.
A Birth Certificate must be presented at time of registration for age verification
if your child has not previously participated at SHB.
For players who are interested in additional competitive play, Select Teams are a fun way to get in additional practice and games during the spring season. Select teams are formed after Evaluations and will play double headers against other competitive teams throughout the Orange County area on Sundays in addition to regular weeknight & Saturday games. Players must participate in 75% of their regular Rec Team practices and games to be eligible to participate in the Select program. There will be additional costs to participate in Select and there are no guarantees for playing time or positions.
SHB is a non-profit league run by volunteers. Registration Fees include USA Softball membership, field rentals, umpire fees, team and individual photos, yearbook, uniforms (jersey, pants, socks), and insurance for the season. Spring Registration fees are as follows:
6U: $180
8U: $265
10U, 12U and 14U: $290
We offer an optional all-day Players Clinic before the season starts for a nominal fee.
We are an all-volunteer league, and each family must have at least one member volunteer in some capacity (in addition to mandatory snack bar duty). The following positions are available on each team:
If you would like to volunteer to serve as a Head Coach or Assistant Coach, please indicate this on your player's registration. All interested individuals must complete an Application for review and vote by the SHB Board of Directors. Applicants will be notified as soon as the votes are tallied.
